Esther Virginia Cole of Battle Creek, MI
Esther, age 100, went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, April 20, 2016 at the Pineview Assisted Living of Battle Creek, following a brief illness.
Esther, the daughter of James Edgar and Berl Bessie (Tasker) Cole, was born in Battle Creek on March 26, 1916; was a lifetime resident and 1934 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. During her high school days, she had been a member of the math club, orchestra, playing both the violin and flute and on its Honor Roll. Esther was employed as a bookkeeper in the offices at Kellogg Company and retired in 1982 after 44 years of faithful service. She was a long time and active member of the Battle Creek Bible Church and a Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed traveling with her good friends, Irene and Beatrice. Esther was an avid supporter of many missionaries.
Surviving is her sister, Frances L. Van Wuffen of Battle Creek; two nieces, Jean (Bill) Belcher of Westland, MI and Carolyn (Dave) Spedden of Battle Creek; her nephew, Norman (Martha) Van Wuffen of Bryon Center, MI; special friends, Dave and Betty Spear of Battle Creek and several great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pauline B. Lahm.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Esther's life will be held on Monday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, with Rev. Larry T. Messer, Pastor of the Battle Creek Bible Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Immediately following the committal service, family and friends will continue Esther's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon at the Battle Creek Bible Church Social Hall, 567 W. Territorial Road, 49017.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Esther's honor may be directed to the Battle Creek Bible Church or Oaklawn Hospice, 122 High Street, Marshall, MI 49068.
