Eugene "Gene" Provost

Eugene “Gene” Provost, 95, of Battle Creek, MI, journeyed peacefully to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. 

Gene was born on January 19, 1929 in Battle Creek to Charles & Fannie Provost.  He grew up and lived most of his life in Pennfield Township. He and his first wife, Gwen, moved to Tucson, AZ for 13 years before returning to the Pennfield area where Gwen passed away. Later Gene & his wife Sandy, reside in Battle Creek and have been married 18 years. 

Gene worked for many years at the Sullivan’s Milk Product plant on Jackson St. where he was the Maintenance Technician for the company.   After Sullivan’s closed, he worked for several different HVAC companies, retiring in Tucson, AZ in 1991.

Gene was a founding member of the Pennfield Assembly of God church for many years and later became a member of Family Altar Chapel.  He enjoyed working on antique cars, gardening, working in his yard, and being outdoors in general. Family was the joy of his life. They enjoyed being with him and listening to his many stories.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brother; wife, Gwendolyn Provost; son, Robert Provost; two daughters-in-law; and one great-granddaughter.  He is survived by his wife, Sandra “Sandy” Provost; two sons, Richard (Linda) Provost of Battle Creek, MI and Gary (Marnita) Provost of Woodstock, GA; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where services to celebrate Gene’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m.  The service will be Live-streamed and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/event/4267233.  Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be directed to the Family Altar Chapel, 14844 6 ½ Mile Rd, Battle Creek, MI 49014.  Personal messages for the family and favorite memories of Gene may be placed here at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
