On May 30, 2025, Evelyn Irene Dunning lost her battle with dementia at the age of 100.
Evelyn was born and raised in Fresno, California. She lived in Fresno until she met a handsome Army Sargent by the name of Jack Dunning. They married and moved to Michigan. First to Detroit, then to Richland to be near family and raise their three children.
Over the years, Evelyn worked at Friendship Village as the dining room hostess and drove school bus for Gull Lake Community Schools.
After retirement, Jack and Evelyn enjoyed visiting the casino, traveling by train to visit family in Fresno, and spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Jack, their infant daughter Susan and two brothers. She is survived by her children and their families; Nancy (John) Smith of Richland, Sandra (Dan) Delosh of Dunedin, Florida, and Jack Dunning of Richland; grandchildren, Crissa (Ken Isaacson) Smith, Matthew Smith, Kerry (David) Cabrera and Tim (Lindsay) Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Sierra (Josh Vennard) Mason, Leah and Kate Cabrera and Jaxon and Remi Sullivan.
If you’re lucky enough to still have your parents, call them, visit them, let them tell their stories over and over again. Treat them with respect and love.
Cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
