Flora McDonald Etter, 95, of Battle Creek died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
Flora was born June 12, 1921 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Alexander and Mary (McDonald) Fettes. Flora grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. She retired in the mid 1980's as a lab technician from Michigan Carton Company, where she was employed many years.
Flora married Milton J. Etter on October 7, 1939 in Bryan, Ohio. Milton preceded her in death on May 7, 1968. Surviving are her daughter, Kay Meldrum of Battle Creek; two grandchildren, Donald "James" Meldrum, III and Jerry L. (Cindy) Vandeburg; two great- grandchildren, Alan Parlier and Kayla Vandeburg; and one great great-grandson, Brice Parlier. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Julie Vandeburg and Becky Vandeburg; a son-in-law, Donald J. Meldrum, Jr.; two brothers, Hector and Victor Fettes; and a sister, Margaret Brown.
She was a life member of the Eagles and Women of the Moose. Flora enjoyed flower gardening in her yard and playing BUNCO. Flora loved traveling and took her grandchildren all over the continental USA. She was always available to help her family or friends.
Friends will be received 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2017 and officiated by Pastor Mike Sparks of Resurrection Power Church.
