Frances "Gail" Greenway

Frances "Gail" Greenway, age 76 of Battle Creek died Wednesday, November 27, 2024. She was born May 17, 1948, in Tennessee, to William Allen Brown and Viola Frances Mae (McClemore) Brown.

Gail was employed in the Housewares Department at Walmart, for 25+ years prior to her passing. She was well known for her ability to raise money through yard sales for Relay for Life, for which she raised around $250,000.00. Gail loved going on cruises, singing Karaoke, playing pool, bowling, and was very crafty. She could make just about anything from almost nothing. She also enjoyed dancing and won awards for her singing.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband, Randy; her parents; and a son, Robbie Fortner. She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda (Matt) Eishen, Robin Fortner, and Angie (Jim) Morgan; her brother, Marvin (Vicki) King; her sisters, Brinda Konkle, Tammy (Tony) Garber, Tina (Jerry) Owen, and Tonya Cole; her grandchildren, William (April) Fortner, Christopher (Kerri) Fortner, Cody Fortner, Kimberly (David) Spoor, Joshua (Cristy) Fortner, Lynda (Mark) Blount, Mecala Ives, Alyssa Morgan, Colten (Elizabeth) Eishen and Grace Eishen; and her great-grandchildren, Audrey Fortner, Elana Fortner, Alexander Fortner, Veronica Blount and Violet Fortner.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2024 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where services to celebrate Gail’s life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024. The service will be live-streamed and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/event/4756339. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor her, by donating to Amedisys Hospice, Relay for Life or the American Cancer Society.
