Frances Louise Van Wuffen, age 97, of Battle Creek went to her Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2019.
Frances, the daughter of James Edgar and Berl Bessie (Tasker) Cole, was born in Battle Creek on October 28, 1921. She was a lifetime resident, a 1939 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, and was employed at the Kellogg Company for more than 17 years. Frances attended Battle Creek Bible Church for many years, was an avid reader and enjoyed swimming. She was also an accomplished pianist and loved music, especially the piano, viola, violin, organ and accordion.
Frances married William "Bill" Van Wuffen at the Battle Creek Bible Church on June 2, 1956; he sadly preceded her in death on May 5, 1991. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Carolyn Spedden; her parents; and two sisters, Pauline Lahm and Esther Cole. She is survived by a step-daughter, Jean (Charles "Bill") Belcher of Westland; a step-son, Norman (Martha) Van Wuffen of Byron Center; a step son-in-law, David Spedden of Florida; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday with Rev. Larry T. Messer of the Battle Creek Bible Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery.
