Frank Edward Hendrickson, 71, a lifetime Battle Creek resident, collapsed and died unexpectedly at home, on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
Frank was born October 11, 1953, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of William Gerald and Virginia Joan (McCauley) Hendrickson. He grew up in Battle Creek, attended St. Philip Catholic Schools for 12 years, graduating with the Class of 1971. Frank earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Frank worked as a loan officer at Great Lakes Bancorp, formerly known as First Federal Savings from the mid 1970’s he continued his career in mortgage lending at Kellogg Community Credit Union until retiring in 2016. After retiring, Frank was asked to return as an underwriter which he was still doing until the day he passed.
While working for the bank, Frank met Bonnie. Frank Edward Hendrickson and Bonnie Jayne Henderson were united in marriage on August 1, 1993. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; three children, Heather (Jerry Norris) Eberhard, Vance (Chelsea) Eberhard IV and Elizabeth (David) Jackson all of Battle Creek; 12 grandchildren, Henry Peebles currently serving in the U.S. Army in Bolgaria, Vana Peebles, Hemi Gutzman, Franklin Peebles, Joel Jackson, Dallas Gutzman, Diesel Hendrickson, Colton Hendrickson, Lelynd Fox, Vance Eberhard V, William Jackson and Kamryn Jackson; siblings, Mary Jo (Herb) McPeake and David (Lori) Hendrickson both of Battle Creek; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Virgina Hendrickson, a brother, Robert “Bobby” Hendrickson, and their beloved dog Daisy.
Frank was a lifetime member of St. Philip Catholic Church. Frank was a long-time member and treasurer of the Battle Creek Host Lions Club. He loved sports, playing baseball in high school, and later played basketball, hockey and softball as an adult. Frank and Bonnie enjoyed winters in Cocoa, Fl and loved spending time at the beach. Frank was a football referee for over 30 years, and for Lacrosse the past ten years. Frank organized everything, till the last sock or paper was in its place. Frank’s kindness, generosity, and love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He believed in building not just structures, but also relationships and memories that stand the test of time.
Friends will be received 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Richardson at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025.
