Frank Shive, 90, born on May 12, 1932 went to be with the lord on August 13,2022. He was born in Canton, Ohio to the parents of Roy and Anna (Shiltz) Shive. After finishing high school, he went on to earn his B.S. degree from Kent State University (OH) and an MA degree from Peabody College (Vanderbilt). Frank spent his first 29 years in Canton teaching in the public schools and was very active in the First Christian Church.
Then in 1961, Frank left Canton to begin his ministry with small struggling churches. He served with churches in Welcome, OH, Coshocton, OH, Hiawatha, KS and Willis, KS. In 1987 he came to Charlotte, MI to work with the Charlotte Christian School. This is where he retired as administrator of the school in 1998. In August of 2017, he began a ministry at the Albion Church of Christ in Albion, MI until he retired in 2021 due to health issues.
During most of his adult life he made special efforts with young people. He served as scoutmaster for three different troops. He developed and led a ministry called Fishermen, for teen boys, in three churches. He served as manager for Mission Lake Christian Camp in Kansas. He also initiated the school camping program in Canton. As well as establishing the virtual ascent bible camp that continues each summer at the Seventh Day Baptist campsite just south of Battle Creek.
Frank is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Eunice Shive of Battle Creek, MI. As well as 3 grandkids, Suzy and Corey McMeekan, Steven Murray, Anastasia Melvin and Jeffery Shive all of Battle Creek; 2 great-grandkids, T.J. and Lyanna; and a sister, Doris of Owens Mills, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister.
He was an active member of the Bellevue Church of Christ in Bellevue, MI. Memorial services will be planned at the Bellevue Church of Christ, 22980 13 Mile Rd Bellevue, MI 49021, date and time TBD.
