Fred Styles "Jocko" Burbank, Jr., age 59, of Battle Creek passed away Thursday morning, July 1st at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born in Battle Creek on September 9, 1961 to Fred Styles Burbank, Sr. and Katherine Marie (Walker) Banks and attended Athens schools. Fred worked at Community Hospital in Battle Creek, Tidy Tires and Main Street Market.
Fred enjoyed the outdoors right up until the end. He was an active baseball player in his younger days, and enjoyed fishing, woodworking, motorcycles, snowmobiles, classic cars, country & soft rock music, and telling stories around the bonfire.
Fred is survived by his Sons, Eric, Deric, Fred III. & Dustin Burbank, all of Battle Creek; his step-son, Larry Jackson of Hickory Corners; step-daughter, Melissa (Jackson) Green of Battle Creek; his grandchildren, Romello, Amirah, TaNia, Deric Jr., Brice, Kayden, Kendrick, Ashton, Alexa, Aleyah, all of Battle Creek, and Sheyenne of Tennessee; his sisters, Anna (Tony Russell) Oberlin, Vickie Burbank, Karen (Dan) Cullers all of Battle Creek, Jackie (Mike) Nailer of Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; his ex-wife, Carole (Haywood) Bishop and a good friend, Carole Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-father, Robert Banks.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Jocko's life will be held at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Brian Ferris officiating.
