Frederick Arnold "Fred" Bowman

Frederick Arnold "Fred" Bowman, age 89, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully surrounded by family and faithful caregivers at home on Monday evening, November 7, 2022. He was born in Battle Creek on July 31, 1933, the loving son of Harold L. and Estella M. (Hepler) Bowman. Fred graduated from W.K. Kellogg of Hickory Corners, in 1951. Fred faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy and retired from the Kellogg Company in 1989 after more than 39 years in Research & Development, with the final product he helped develop being "Crispix".

Fred married the "Love of His Life", Pauline J. Orton on June 14, 1953; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Michael (Kristi) Bowman of Augusta, Ronald (Cindy) Bowman of Battle Creek, Frederick B. (Ann) Bowman of Florida, and Garry (Tracy) Bowman , Joy Bowman of Battle Creek; and sister in law Shirley Brenner of Florida; his grandchildren, Kirby (Jeff) Lee, Camden (Ananda) Bowman, Troy (Nicole) Bowman, Andy Bowman, Kegan Bowman, Kalleigh Bowman, Karlie (Rob) Hundley, Brenae (Jonathan) Fleury, and Taylor (Jason) Rodriguez; his great-grandchildren, Adaline, Brody, Gavin, Garrett, Jaxon, Kylia, Jack, William, Lucy, Lincoln, Payton, Tyler, and Brennan; his brother, Harold (Marie) Bowman; and several nieces & nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother & his wife, Charles & Mary Bowman.

Fred was a member of the Kellogg 25-Year Club and attended Day Bible Church. An Avid Detroit sports and University of Michigan fan, he also loved watching his boy's wrestling matches & football games, and coached many little league teams throughout the years. He also enjoyed traveling and fishing. Fred was always willing to help out in any way he could, and helped many fix their cars and build their homes.

Fred's family would like to thank all of Fred's caregivers who Blessed him with amazing & wonderful care. The family will receive friends 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, November 21st at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel where services to celebrate Fred's life will begin at 11:30 a.m. The service will be live-streamed and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/771616456. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Elara Caring Hospice.
