Garry Lee Titus

Garry Lee Titus, 56, a lifelong Battle Creek resident died peacefully at his home with his family at his side on Thursday, February 1, 2018.

He was born May 23, 1961 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Gerald Edward and Jenny M. (Hare) Titus. Garry was a 1980 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Garry was employed at Memorial Park Cemetery for 21 years as a mechanic and groundskeeper, until recently when his health declined. He was previously employed at Brutsche Concrete products and Wilbert Vault Company.

Garry was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Sharon Horner Titus. Surviving is his wife, Tania Jane Damon Titus; son Jonathan R. (Samantha) Titus; two stepsons, Joshua M. Sykes ,and Brandon L. Sykes; four granddaughters, Sharon and Karen Titus, Valerie and Alivia Sykes; his mother, Jenny M. Hare Titus; five brothers, Jeff Titus, David Titus, Gerald (Carol) (Bimbo) Titus got the last laugh in love – Garry, Randy (Brenda) Titus, Charlie (Cindy) Titus; a sister, Mary (Jim) McLeod and numerous nieces and nephews. Garry was preceded in death by his father, Gerald; brothers, Andrew Titus, Sr., Andrew Titus, Jr.; brother and his wife, Martin "Mike" and Mary Ann Titus and brother, Larry Titus.

Garry was good with his hands. He enjoyed fixing small engines. Garry was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, weekends at Randy and Brenda's house, playing cards, having family dinners on Sunday, and especially spending time with his granddaughters. He could never sit still and was always busy with something. John Dowdle remembered Garry as "you are a great guy and have always been respectful, helpful and accommodating to all the families we have served. You're the guy that made Doug's job look easy. I have already witnessed that you are missed."

Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
