George Ernest Finney, 84, a lifelong Battle Creek resident, died in South Haven in the care of Heartland Hospice on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.
George was born July 12, 1932 in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Harlo and Lulu May (Collyer) Finney. He retired as an in-town truck driver for Post Division of General Foods, where he was employed for 36 years..
George was formerly married to Joan E. Morgan. George was preceded in death by his second wife, Joyce Ann Casper on September 14, 1996. Surviving are two sons, Rickie (Mary Ann) Finney of Sturgis, Randy Lee Finney of Battle Creek; two grandchildren, Tracy (Mike) Bower and Rickie Finney, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. George was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jesse Harlo Finney; and sisters, Violet R. Lyon, Velma Elaine Byers.
George was a member of the Post 25 year Club and the Postum Club. He enjoyed traveling and stopping at Casinos. In his younger years he played softball for Post and other area teams.
Friends may call 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016. Committal and interment will follow at Bedford Cemetery.
