George L. Perse, Jr.

George L. “Buzzy” Perse, Jr., 61, died May 14, 2025. Buzzy was born July 24, 1963 in Kalamazoo to George Perse, Sr. and Virginia (Penny) Perse. Buzzy worked in grounds maintenance for Gull Lake View golf courses for the entirety of his adult life.

Buzzy was the classic outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, foraging for mushrooms and taking rides in the country with his Jeep. When he wasn’t spending time exploring outdoors, Buzzy was always ready for a good barbecue. He was willing to lend a hand and help those he loved. He was kind, fun-loving and had a great sense of humor. Buzzy was an animal lover and especially loved his dogs. He was a big supporter of local animal rescues. Buzzy will be missed by many.

Buzzy was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Vicki Gates and nephew Grant Ruzza. He is survived by three sisters, Cheri (John) Ruzza, Juli Perse and Bonni (Ken) Perse-Hanson and many nieces and nephews.

Per Buzzy's request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Memorial donations may be made to the Barry County Humane Society.
