Geraldine LaRue "Geri" Menne of Richland, MI




Geri, age 77, died on Tuesday morning, March 31, 2015 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI after a lengthy illness

Geri, the daughter of Seldon D. and Nellie P. (Noble) Barnes, was born in Battle Creek, MI on June 7, 1937; was a lifetime area resident; a 1954 graduate of Hastings High School and a Richland resident since 1968. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, cross stitch and music. Geri was a loving wife, mother and a friend to many.


Geri was united in marriage to George Edgar Menne on June 30, 1956 in Battle Creek, MI. Surviving is her husband of over 58 years, George; her daughter, Melissa M. "Missy" (Robert V.) Innocenti of Churchville, MD; two sons, Stuart T. (Teresa J.) Menne of Otsego, MI and Mark J. (Kelly L.) Menne of Sheridan, OR; fifteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her 105 year-old mother, Nellie P. Barnes of Battle Creek and her brother, David (Sandra) Barnes of Battle Creek. Geri was preceded in death by her father, Seldon.


The Memorial Service to celebrate Geri's life will be held on Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89) with Rev. Robert G. Muirhead, officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Immediately following the interment, family and friends are invited to celebrate Geri's life with a light lunch hosted by the family at The Dock at Bayview, 12504 East D Avenue, Richland. Geri's family will receive friends on Monday, April 6th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Geri's honor may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 3940 Broadmoor Avenue, SE, Suite 100, Grand Rapids, MI 49512.
