Geraldine Portia "Jerry" (McCann) Taylor passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2021 in Manistee, Michigan, where her family gathered to be with her.
Jerry was born in Hibbing, Minnesota on September 2, 1931 to Ralph & Helen (Leino) McCann. She lived in Battle Creek most of her life but spent her summers in Hibbing until after High School. She loved going to Minnesota where she had many relations & friends. She also enjoyed going to Chicago and spending time there with her aunt & uncle.
On March 23, 1952 she married her High School sweetheart Richard Russel "Dick" Taylor at the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. Dick preceded her in death in 2019.
Surviving are their four children, Christina (Jerry) Burchfield of Little Rock, AR, Susan (Jouard) Lingg of Cullowhee, NC, Sharon Taylor of Manistee, MI and Richard (Michelle) Taylor of Battle Creek. Also surviving her are five grandchildren, Jason Taylor Burchfield of Gainesville, FL, Jasmine Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK, Russell Benjamin Taylor of Oklahoma City, OK, David Lee Taylor of Rochester, MI and Annamarie Taylor of Dallas, TX, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Jerry's hobby was painting, especially landscapes in oil. She enjoyed traveling to the cottage up north and the beach in Florida. Above all she loved her grandchildren.
A graveside committal service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorials may be made to the Taylor Scholarship Fund, Battle Creek Community Foundation, 323 W Michigan Ave, Ste #1, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
