Gilbert L. "Gil" Hess

Gilbert L. "Gil" Hess, Jr., age 83, of Battle Creek died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Heartland Health Care Center. He was born in Battle Creek on April 27, 1931, the loving son of Gilbert L. and Paulene F. (Shelp) Hess. Gil faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1952, serving in Korea from 1950 to 1952.

Gil married the "Love of His Life", Beverly I. (Olmstead) Huntington on December 31, 1982; she sadly preceded him in death on October 10, 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Reynolds of Bellevue, Peggy Easey of Bellevue, Theresa Bartlett of Colorado, and Tina Crocker of Bellevue; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces & nephews. Gil was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; 3 sisters, and 4 sons, Gilbert Hess III., Richard Hess, Donnie Hess, and Steve Huntington.

Gil was a life-member of the D.A.V. and the Bellevue Lodge #83 F&AM. He was also a Golden Age Eagle in the Eagle Lodge #299.

The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Bellevue, 122. S. Main St., Bellevue where funeral services to celebrate Gil's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Bellevue.
