Gladys M. Robertson, 98, of Battle Creek died peacefully at Advantage Living in Battle Creek on Thursday, February 14, 2019.
Gladys was born April 15, 1920 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Edward C. and Vera E. (Coger) Halstead. Gladys retired as a Nurse's Aide from Southwest Rehabilitation Center in 1981. Previously she was employed for the Kellogg Company and at Shrank's Cafeteria in downtown Battle Creek.
Gladys M. Holstead married Lee A. Robertson on November 20, 1941 in Marshall, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee on Mach 4, 1989. Surviving are her son, Dennis Robertson of Battle Creek; one granddaughter, Denise York of Homer, MI; one great-grandson, Stephen VanVleet; two sisters, Mary Jane (Ronald) Williams of Hastings, MI, Donna Jean Felder of Grand Rapids, MI; one brother, Kenneth E. Halstead of Battle Creek, a special niece, Melanie Cadwallader and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband, Gladys was also preceded in death by a sister, Anna Wright and a brother, Lester H. Halstead.
Gladys was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church and its Missionary Group. She loved spending weekends or whenever time would allow at their cottage on Long Lake in Cloverdale, Michigan. Gladys always made time to care for her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews throughout the years and she will be remembered as loving wife, mother and person who always saw the best in everyone.
