Glen "Buck" Eldridge

July 13, 1926 — August 31, 2020

Glen G. "Buck" Eldridge, age 94, of Augusta, died peacefully on Monday morning, August 31, 2020. He was born in Oshtemo, Michigan on July 13, 1926 the son of Vernon and Glenora (Garlic) Eldridge and graduated from Augusta High School. Glen faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He retired from the Knappen Milling Company after more than 44 years and then served for more than 22 years with the Village of Augusta. Glen was also a volunteer fireman for the Ross-Augusta Fire Department for more than 61 years.

Glen married the "Love of His Life", Barbara Lou Harper, in Battle Creek on April 5, 1952; she sadly preceded him in death on April 15, 2013 after more than 61 years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Vern (Wendy) Eldridge of Augusta, Tonya Eldridge of Kalamazoo, Glenna Eldridge-Wilson of Battle Creek, and Kelli (Kevin) Shaffer of Augusta; 7 grandchildren, Troy, Ashley, Brandon (Ellie), Larry, Jacob, Justin, and Bonnie (Trever); 8 great-grandchildren, Darrian, Dylan, Teagon, Hailey, Faith, Alivia, Beau and Bryce; a sister, Sharon Bowers; two brothers, Larry Eldridge and Diz (Ellen) Eldridge; his cat, "Pea Picker"; and several nieces, nephews and good friends. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Larry Wilson; his parents; and four sisters, Marianne, Joyce, Margie and Nancy.

Glen was known for his great sense of humor and ability to find humor even in the toughest of situations. He was a member of the Augusta V.F.W. # 7956 and the local Grain Millers Union. A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed trapping, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, gardening & canning, and played softball until the age of 89. He also enjoyed fireworks, bowling, scrapping and spending time with family & friends, especially at the Dig-In Cafe and Niko's.

The family would like to thank Noel, Luke and the entire staff at Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan for the wonderful care they provided to Buck and the family. Due to current cemetery regulations, private funeral services with military honors (by invitation only) to celebrate Buck's life will be held 9:30 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2020. The service will be Live-streamed and may be viewed by visiting the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care Facebook page. Please omit flowers and in lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall Suite 100 Kalamazoo, MI 49007, would be appreciated.
