Glenna J. Gilley, age 81, of Battle Creek, peacefully went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Monday evening, June 29, 2015. She was born in Robbins, Tennessee on June 5, 1934, the loving daughter of Ernest and Nevada (Keeton) Lackey.
A true family matriarch, Glenna truly loved spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, and taking care of her home. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, traveling to the South and also loved "her church" (Overflow Church) and her flowers.
Glenna married the "Love of Her Life", Angus E. Gilley in Connersville, Indiana on September 13, 1951; he survives. She is also survived by her children, David (Faye) Gilley of Virginia; Rita LaFountain of Battle Creek, Tamera (Dale) Geminder of Battle Creek, and Michael (Crystal) Gilley of Battle Creek; her beloved dog, "Ginger", 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; her brother, Gordon (Victoria) Lackey of Battle Creek; a sister, Joyce Cushing of Indiana, and several nieces & nephews. Glenna was preceded in death by her parents and 7 brothers & sisters, Ruby, Pearl, May, Ed, Cliff, Retha & Alice.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Glenna's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 3, 2015.
