Gordon O. Fitzgerald

Gordon O. Fitzgerald, 85, of Battle Creek, died November 19, 2023.  Gordon was born August 26, 1938 in Grand Rapids, MI to Orville and Escelie (Bodine) Fitzgerald.  He graduated from Spring Arbor University where he was a decorated runner.  He also ran and won medals for Robert Wesleyan University.  Gordon moved to Battle Creek and started his career at the Federal Center, where he would eventually retire as a computer programmer.

Gordon enjoyed nature and animals.  He was also a talented woodworker.  He was a man of faith who loved to study the Bible.  He was involved in Bible studies through his church and would often read and study scripture with his sister, Carol. 

Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2017 and his parents.  He is survived by his sister, Carol Small, 6 nieces and nephews, and his close friend, Steve Olmstead. 

A memorial service to celebrate Gordon’s life will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Pleasantview Family Church, officiated by Pastor Steven Olmstead, with a luncheon to follow.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be at Hicks Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasantview Family Church.  Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
