Harold K. Cosgrove, 89, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully at Bronson Battle Creek on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
Harold was born August 28, 1932 in South Haven, Michigan the son of Floyd and Lillian Thursa (Marr) Cosgrove. As a child, he moved to Battle Creek with his family from Allegan. Harold attended Southeastern Junior High and then during his senior year was drafted into the U.S. Army. During his two years in the U.S. Army, Harold served overseas in the Korean War, prior to his honorable discharge. After the service, he received his diploma from Battle Creek Central High School. He was employed from 1959-1986 for Harper Creek School; District, first as a bus driver, which he continued to fill in as needed; and retired as the Head Diesel Mechanic.
He was formerly married to Darlene Broughton. Harold married Margaret Ellen (Ludlow) Simpson on March 28, 1992. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; children, Rod (Sheila) Cosgrove of Long Beach, CA, Sherrie Carnell of Battle Creek, Donald (Karla) Cosgrove of Winona Lake, MN; a stepson, Robert M. (Donna) Simpson of Big Lake, MN; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several cousins and their families. Harold was preceded in death by two infant sons; his parents; and two brothers, Wilbur and Gerry Cosgrove.
Harold loved dancing and traveling with Margaret. Harold grew up on a farm and he enjoyed going to tractor shows and rebuilding tractors. He drove his tractors in the Annual Urbandale Parade. Harold will be remembered as being friendly to all and for being the loving caring and just the "best guy".
Friends will be received 12:30 p.m. â 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A funeral service will be officiated by Pastor John R. Fulton 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 105 Capital Avenue N.E., Battle Creek, MI 49017.
