Harold Arthur Tower, 94, of Battle Creek died at Brookdale Assisted Living in Portage on Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Harold Arthur Tower, 94 of Battle Creek, passed away on 17 December 2017 after a short illness. He was born on 2 August 1923 in Barryton, Michigan to the late Guy and Elizabeth (Geedy) Tower. Harold graduated high school in 1941 and married his wife Valentine Julia (Mezyk) Tower in June 1944. Harold started at Kellogg's in 1944 and worked as a mechanic and steamfitter for over 40 years. Harold was proud to have served in the 94th Division of the Army and was involved in Europe in the final months of WW2 and was part of the occupying forces. Harold received a Purple Heart and had an Honorable Discharge as a Technical Sergeant.

Harold retired from Kellogg's in 1985 and had many years of a fulfilling retirement. He was an active parishioner in St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

In their sixty-nine years of marriage, Harold and Val travelled to see new places and share good times with family and friends. They used planes, cars and motorcycles to visit different places around the world. They toured all 50 states of USA, visited South East Asia, and made several trips to Australia to visit their youngest son, John, and his family.

Harold was preceded in his death by his beloved wife, Val, in 2014; and his sister Ruth Tower. He is survived by his brother Norm (Connie) Tower; his sons William (Patricia) of Portage, Michigan and John (Lisa) of Melbourne, Australia; and his grandchildren Emily Tower of Chicago, Illinois, Laura Tower of Orlando, Florida, Bryant Tower of Manhattan Beach, California, Elizabeth Tower and Helen Tower, both of Melbourne, Australia; and a great granddaughter, Stella of Chicago.

Friends will be received 11:00 a.m. -12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where personal eulogies will be shared at 12:10 p.m. A procession will leave the funeral home at 12:30 for Ft. Custer National Cemetery, where a committal with full military honors will be held and interment will follow.
