Harry "Chico" Clay, age 84, of Battle Creek, died Thursday December 19, 2013. Harry was a long time resident of Evergreen's Senior Care Center in Springfield. Harry was a life-long resident of Battle Creek. He faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was employed as a journeyman Boilermaker/ Ironworker.
Harry is survived by his brother, Jon Clay; his sister, Betty Pables; his daughters, Patty Copeland, Sherry Palmer and Shelly Binner; his son-in-laws, Brad Palmer and Jason Binner; his grandchildren, Celeste Jackson, Mike Byers, Jerry Mack Woody III, Javon Parson, Julian Munoz, Haydon Palmer, Holden Palmer and BradLeigh Palmer; his great-grandchildren, Kyrah Byers, Vaden Jackson, Riley Jackson, Omya Byers, Jadan Byers and Arielle Woody III; his late wife, Kay Clay; her daughter, Deborah Guffy, and granddaughter, Rishannah Parson.
His favorite hobby's were listening to music by Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdink, watching classic, boxing and western movies. Harry was a Golden Gloves champion, and favorite pastime was to help train boxing, his entire adult life, traveling to the east coast, and having many loving dog companions.
Funeral services with full military honors to celebrate Harry's life will be held at the Fort Custer National Cemetery 1:30 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013. A gathering will follow to continue Harry's Life Celebration at 3:00pm at Clara's on the River.
