Harvey, age 69, died on Monday, February 29, 2106 at his residence.
Harvey, the son of Herman and Helena (Rubinfire) Gavorin, was born in Detroit, MI on June 3, 1946. He served his country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War as an Airman Third Class in the United States Air Force, stationed in Germany for two years maintaining airplanes. After his service to his country, Harvey had been a pipe fitter for over 20 years at Ford Motor Company of Detroit.
Harvey was married to Rhoda Sue (nee: Zumberg) Brown; she was the mother of his children and resides in Warren, MI. He then married Barbara E. "Bobbie" (nee: Golden) in West Bloomfield, MI on July 13, 1986 and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2015. Surviving is his daughter, Michelle J. Gavorin of Warren MI; two sons, David M. Gavorin of North Branch, MI and Randy I. (Denise) Gavorin of Bloomfield Township, MI; four grandchildren, Rebecka, Andrew, Austin and Amelia Gavorin; a great granddaughter, Kassidy Gavorin and his sister, Susan Gavorin of Farmington Hills, MI. Harvey was also preceded in death by his parents.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Harvey's life will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, with Cantor Annie Rose of the Temple Beth El of Battle Creek, officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harvey's honor may be directed to Temple Beth El, 306 Capital Avenue, NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017 or the Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Road, Suite # 220, Bingham Farm, MI 48025.
