Helen Mary Lajoie

Helen Mary (Lapointe) Lajoie, 89, passed away Wednesday evening August 14, 2019 in Battle Creek.

Helen was born on June 9, 1930 in Chicopee, Massachusetts to Edward and Lillian LaPointe. She graduated in 1947 from The Holy Name of Jesus (All Girls) High School in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Helen was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Henry Lajoie (deceased 2018) on December 30, 1950 in Willimansett, Massachusetts. Helen was a woman of grace and energy and assisted Bob in the many world-wide military moves with his service in the U.S. Air Force. Through God's love they brought into this world 10 children and were blest to celebrate over 67 years of marriage. Helen retired from Post Cereals of Battle Creek.

Surviving are two daughters, Elizabeth A. (Tom) Akers of Battle Creek, Gloria J. (Jeff) Stone of St Petersburg, FL; seven sons, David E. (Paula) Lajoie of Tucson, AZ, Robert J. (Pam) Lajoie of Battle Creek, James E. (Leslie) of Rochester, NY, Thomas N. Lajoie of Battle Creek, John A. (The late Diane) Lajoie of Bartlesville, OK, Paul E. Lajoie of Battle Creek, Christopher M. (Lauren) Lajoie of St Louis, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Bob, a daughter, Katherine M. Marker, her parents Edward and Lillian Lapointe, and a brother and his wife Edward and Jeanette Lapointe.

Helen was a member and daily communicant of St Joseph Catholic Church and a former member of St. Philip Catholic Church. She enjoyed golf, sewing, travel, playing Cribbage and making rosaries for various missions around the world.

Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday August 19, 2019 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Christopher Ankley at St. Joseph Catholic Church 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
