Helen Marie (Callahan, Parker, Misner & Vernia) Misner of Elizabethtown, KY and formerly of Battle Creek, MI
Helen, age 81, died Thursday morning, November 9, 2017 at her son, Max's residence following a brief illness.
Helen, the daughter of Donald and Geneva (Babcock) Callahan, was born in Hastings, MI on July 9, 1936 and moved to Elizabethtown in 2007 to be with her family. She was a 1954 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and had been employed at VC Squires of Battle Creek which had been manufacturer of guitar strings until 1969. Helen enjoyed NASCAR especially # 2, Rusty Wallace and had been a Championship Stock Car Driver herself in the 1960's. She loved God and her church family, but her true passion in life was spending time with her family especially the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter, Adaline.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven Parker and by three husbands, Robert "Bob" Parker, Max E. Misner, II and George W. Vernia. Surviving are three sons, Max E. (Jody) Misner of Elizabethtown, KY, Scott (Martha) Misner of Galveston, TX and Russell (Barbie) Parker of Battle Creek; three step sons; a step daughter; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and a great great-granddaughter, Adaline.
The Graveside Service to celebrate Helen's life will be held on Monday, November 13th at Noon at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with Rev. James L. Sparks, officiating. Helen's family will greet friends on Sunday, November 12th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
