Herbert L. "Scott" Westcott, Iii

Herbert Lee Westcott III, of Battle Creek, MI, known by friends and family as "Scott," passed away June 1, 2018, just 2 days before his 59th birthday. He passed away surrounded by his loved ones, at Select Specialty Hospital of Battle Creek after a long battle with kidney cancer.

Scott was born on the 3rd of June, 1959 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was a 1977 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He was a very proud and honored Eagle Scout and had a successful career as a brilliant mechanical designer at Post Cereal for several years. Scott's favorite thing to do was work out in the garage on cars; as well as, design and build things in his spare time.

He dedicated his life to Jesus and loved to serve the Lord. Scott was a founding member of Living Word Church and served as Treasurer and Chairman of the Board for nearly eight years. Since the church began in 2010 he dedicated a lot of his free time to working on projects for the church. Even throughout his battle with kidney cancer he remained strong and persevered to do great works for the Lord for as long as he was able.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert L. Westcott Jr. and Leila B. Westcott. He is survived by his wife and love of his life, Teresa (Swallows) Westcott for nearly 29 years, their children, Kristen Westcott and Joshua Westcott, his sister, Kathleen (George) Putman of Lawrence, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews; Christopher and Daniel Simmonds, Hannah Clark, Makayla, Nicholas, Maddison, and Ashlee Skidmore, Brooke Dean, Taylor, Bailey, and Logan Swallows.

A celebration of Scott's life will be held at the Memorial Park Chapel on Wednesday, June 6th. Viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Scott's honor be made to Living Word Church's Missionary Fund.
