Herman May

     Herman May, 89, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023.

     Herman was born October 7, 1933 in Kildav, Kentucky to Moss and Florence (Ferrell) May. He worked for the City of Battle Creek for over 41 years in the maintenance department and waste water treatment plant. He also pastored for 40 years in Battle Creek and co-pastored in Albion. Herman loved his family, music, church and Christmas. 

     Herman is survived by his daughters, Cheri Culp, Gloria (Douglas) Maurer and Lisa (Victor) Gaw; sons, Gregory (Jody) May and Herbart (Lisa) May; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brother, H.L. (Rose) May; sister-in-law, Edith May and brother-in-law, Frank Kell. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jacob and great-grandchildren Braeden and Alivia; brothers, Shelby and James May and sister, Dorothy Caswell.

     Herman’s family will receive friends for visitation Monday, August 7, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home, where a service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Personal messages for Herman’s family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
