Idamae (Barnes) Wyman, age 88 of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo on Friday evening, May 23, 2025. She was born in Kalamazoo on May 31, 1936, the daughter of Donald and Roberta (Pond) Barton and graduated from Mattawan High School. Ida worked for many years as a caregiver at several Adult Foster Care Homes in Grand Rapids. She enjoyed ice skating, roller skating and dancing. As she grew older she enjoyed making crafts, playing cards, bingo and listening to karaoke.
Ida is survived by her children, Colleen Barnes Jacoby, Jimmy (Katherine) Barnes and Robinette (Billy) Smith, all of Battle Creek; a sister-in-law, Barb Hopkins-Culver; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was sadly preceded in death by her children, Tommy Barnes, Donnie Barnes, and Ava Barnes; a grandson, Joey Barnes; and a half-brother, Wayne Culver.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2025 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek where services to celebrate her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Reese Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators (Hospice), 7100 Stadium Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
