Ileen "Amina" Guy

Amina Guy, born Ileen Marie Henry gained her wings on Monday February 12, 2024.  Amina was born January 29, 1951 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Charles Henry Jr. and Iva (Corlew) Henry.  

Amina attended Battle Creek Public Schools and completed her education graduating from Pearl High School in Nashville, Tennessee.  

In her early years she worked at Community Hospital.  Later she continued her education, obtaining her CNA license and was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Battle Creek.

One of Amina’s passions was working with and caring for the elderly.  She was employed at the Oaks at NorthPointe Woods and other senior living facilities giving lots of love and care to the residents.

Amina loved to travel and see new places.  Also one of her favorite hobbies was Scrapbooking.  The absolute JOY of her life was her family. F.O.E. Family Over Everything!

Amina was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Henry Jr. and Iva Corlew, her son Waleed,  her mother and father in-law, Mary and Robert Guy, and her brother in-law Kamau Guy. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Abayomi Husam Guy, and her children:  Hasan (Franzetta) Dakkar,(Aamirah) Tamu, Shauna, Abdul (Chesa) Ashanti, Johari, Fadayeen, Menkara, Kamau, Ojore, and Taykiah; her sisters, Charlene, Marylou, Carolayne, Denise, and brother Richie

Amina was the very proud grandmother to 42 grandchildren with 2 grandchildren on the way, and 27 great grandchildren. Amina was also the bonus mom to many. 

She also leaves to cherish her memory a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends

Services will be held Saturday February 24, 2024 at New Harvest Christian Center, 155 W Van buren St. Battle Creek, MI 49017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Personal messages and memories may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
