Irene Czuk passed away on January 21 in Tacoma, WA at the age of 88.
Irene was born on March 6, 1937 in Lwow, Poland and was a long-term resident of Kalamazoo. She was the daughter of Frank and Julia Szumowski. She is reunited in death by her husband Felix Czuk. She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Coleman (Portage), son Mitchell (Mary) Czuk of Federal Way, WA and daughter Christine (Robert) Turner of Tacoma, WA, a niece, as well as ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Irene graduated from St. Augustine Catholic School. While raising her family, she also worked for 20 years at the local K-Mart store where she retired as a Human Resource Manager. After retirement, she enjoyed hosting her grandchildren during summer vacations in Kalamazoo or traveling for extended stays with them in Washington for the holidays. We remember her for her patient, loving temperament as she cared for and played with her grandchildren. She possessed a special talent for caring for them as babies and toddlers and always provided special gifts and treats. Irene passed on her heritage through the generations with devout celebrations of Christmas and Easter with Polish traditions and food.
Her funeral mass was held in Washington State. Her burial service will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta on Friday, February 27, at 2:00pm.
Local arrangements are being handled by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care. Personal messages for Irene's family may be placed here at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
