Jack A. Houtkooper

Jack A. Houtkooper, 78, of Richland, MI. died August 11th, 2024. Jack was born April 26th, 1946 in Kalamazoo to Orrin and Johanna (Smit) Houtkooper. He graduated high school from Portage Central and went on to attend college at Ferris State University. Jack was an area businessman, owning several businesses over the years including: King Motor Co., JH Kooper Used Cars, Richland Body Shop, Richland Florist, Richland Hair Center and Koopers Cars & Marine, LLC.  Jack's customer service and sales experience has won numerous awards with Bennington Pontoon, Yamaha, Honda, and Tohatsu Marine Companies. Some of Jack's hobbies were: classic cars, boating, spending time by the lake, coffee & conversation and dancing.

Jack married the former Char-Lee Chipman on July 19th, 1969. The couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage. Jack is survived by their three children, Brett Houtkooper (Kim), Tamara Schoonbeck (Mike) and Steven Houtkooper, three grandchildren Isaac, Gavin and Johannah Houtkooper. He was preceded in death by his parents Orrin & Johanna Houtkooper, and brothers Robert and Dwayne Houtkooper.

A memorial service to celebrate Jack's life will be at Living Hope Community Church in Richland, MI Friday, August 23, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Living Hope Community Church.
