Living courageously with cancer for nearly 4 years, Jack Thomas Lick, age 79, of Mesa, Arizona and formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2017 surrounded by family and friends.
Jack was born in Tutwiler, MS in 1937 and is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Jack and his wife, Mary Lou, raised their family in Santa Anna, CA, Battle Creek, MI, Memphis, TN and Brooklyn Park, MN. Jack became involved in union work with his position at Ralston Purina and retired as a Vice President from the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union. After retiring, Jack and Mary Lou became avid snowbirds and eventual residents of Mesa, AZ.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou (Bird) Lick. He is survived by his children, Carol Staples, Jeff Lick and Jennifer (Jason) Whittemore; grandchildren, Shana Munoz and Thom (Ashley) Staples; great-grandchild, Marley Munoz; siblings, Sue (Rex) Owens and Iris DeShon; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear family and friends around the United States.
Funeral services to celebrate Jack's life will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2018 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, where an invitation from the family requests gathering to reconnect and reminisce over coffee and donuts starting at 9:30am until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
