H. Jack Versau, 79, of Battle Creek, died January 5, 2015.  Jack was born September 24, 1935 in Plainwell to Harold and Lola (Carlton) Versaw. After graduating from Plainwell High School and serving honorably in the United States Air Force, he attended college at Western Michigan University. Jack enjoyed a long and successful career in sales and marketing; then used his entrepreneurial skills to establish his own companies, including Polymer Technology, Inc., Culver Industries, and Marketing by Design. In his later years, he also served area residents as a realtor with Remax.
Jack was dedicated to his faith and took his devotion to Catholicism seriously. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. Sports, especially University of Michigan football, was a special passion, but most of all Jack loved spending time with his family.
Jack is survived by five of his children, Julia Versau, Jack (Maureen) Versau, Susan (David) Thole, Katherine (Edward) Runyon, and Sarah (Ryan) Lawrence; 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a brother, Robert H. Versaw, Sr., and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Versau Nisbet and two sisters, Constance Cooper and Sharon Matusiak-Weingartz.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 12 at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Francis A. Marotti. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
