Jackie A. Allen, age 87, of Battle Creek passed away Saturday morning, April 14, 2018. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 18, 1930, the daughter of Jess R. and Iris N. (Scoggins) Morgan. Jackie helped many people over the years as a nurses aide, and faithfully served her family as a wife, mother and grandmother.
Jackie married the "Love of Her Life", Frank M. Allen in Georgia on March 21, 1951; he sadly preceded her in death on April 14, 2016, exactly two years to the day that Jackie passed away. She is survived by her sons, Tim and Russell Allen, both of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Chelsea, Jennifer and T.J. Allen, all of Battle Creek, and Ashley Lopez-Stoner of Tennessee; a great-grandson, Milo Finney; a brother, Wesley (JoAnn) Morgan of Texas; two sisters, Jeanette Timmermann of Georgia, Janice Zarger of Maryland; and her beloved dog, "Hazard". Jackie was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Allen on June 30, 2017; her parents; and five brothers & sisters.
Family was always # 1 to Jackie, and she truly loved spending time with them. She also truly loved the Lord, and faithfully attended Temple Baptist Church and Higher Ground Church. Jackie was an avid reader, and especially like reading mystery, romance and inspirational novels. She also enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, latch hooking, and watching soap operas.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Jackie's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 19th. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society.
