Jackie Struble

March 31, 1941 — August 13, 2022

Mother, daughter, sister and friend, Jacqueline "Jackie" Ann Burgoyne Struble, 81, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away on August 13, 2022. She was born to parents John and Mabel Burgoyne, on March 31, 1941 in Freeland, MI.

Jackie graduated from Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw, MI in 1959. She completed her teaching degree at Michigan State University, and later obtained her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She began her career as a lifeguard and roller-skating car hop with her best friend Nan. She went on to teach high school English, work as an attorney, and serve as caregiver for the old, young, and four-legged. She raised her children and grandchildren to be avid readers and rock collectors.

Jackie enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing cards, traveling with her family, and had a special place in her heart for the Texas bluebonnets. She was always up for an adventure including becoming a master gardener alongside her eldest granddaughter at the age of 60, climbing Mt. St. Michel at 70 with her grandson, and swimming with the dolphins with her youngest granddaughter at 75.

Jackie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Freeland, MI. Being loyal, faithful and accepting of all, she would attend Catholic services with Loreli and went to Hickory Corners Wesleyan Church with Dianna for many years. She always had a bright smile and a hug for Pastor Len and Norma Davis.

Jackie is survived by her brother Brian (Candy) Burgoyne; daughters, Dianna and Loreli; grandchildren Lindsey (Mark), Alex, and Jillian; sister-in-law Sybil (Ray) Brennan; nieces and nephews, Keri (A.J.), John, Cyd (Tim) and Tonya. She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Bruce, and nephew Tom.

The family has entrusted Farley-Estes & Dowdle with the arrangements. A private family service will be held on her birthday in Austin, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calhoun County Medical Care Facility's memory care/life enrichment program. A special thank you to the staff, especially her personal angels Gina, Jack, and Laura.
