Jae Suk Park

March 3, 1938 — February 11, 2023

Jae Suk Park, 84, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, February 11, 2023 surrounded by family at home. Jae was born March 3, 1938 in Geojae-do, Weipo-li, South Korea to Soon Hung Park and Ah Ji Kim of South Korea. He married Ki Sook Cho on January 2, 1965. After immigrating to the United States on his birthday in 1973, he worked for Clark Equipment Company and then the City of Battle Creek for many years, mainly in the maintenance department, retiring in 2003. He has been forever grateful to Mr. Harold Macon who helped him during his early days in Battle Creek.

He enjoyed a simple and true life, spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed golf at the Binder Park Golf Course, participating in league play. He played as often as he could, even after starting dialysis in the last couple of years of his life until he could not play anymore. The last year of his life was challenging for him but he found enjoyment in watching golf, soccer, University of Michigan and Lions football, and Joseon Dynasty Korean dramas on TV. He enjoyed sitting on the deck during warm days and petting Maya, talking with his family.

Our family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff who had been intimately involved with his life over the last few years. Their support and care are incalculable.

Jae is survived by his loving wife, Ki Sook and their three children, Joon Sung Park (Karen Park), Joon Hi Park (Michael Park) and Joon Kyu Park and 5 grandchildren Kayla, Lauren, JaeKi, Jonah, and Alyssa.
