James H. "Jim" Albrecht
February 28, 1930 — June 7, 2017
James H. "Jim" Albrecht, 87, of Bellevue died on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek after a courageous battle with his illness.
He was born February 28, 1930 to Harry and Margaret (Hart) Albrecht in Marshall, Michigan. James was a graduate of Marshall High School. He then served honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and proudly served in the Korean War. Jim married Betty A. Fleming. He was employed as a car hauler for Industrial Transport of Lansing and Yellow Transit. Jim was also a machinist for many years at American Fire Pump Company. After retiring he never stopped working. He delivered the Enquirer for over 10 years.
James was a farmer at heart from his younger years with his parents. He loved to plant a garden every year and was known for his delicious sweet corn and cantaloupe. Jim also cut wood and did woodworking. He was able to draw out on a piece of paper his dream of a log cabin and built that himself. With his wife at his side they made their dream a reality. He was a family man and always put them first. Jim was an outstanding Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle and a perfect role model, as he helped his daughter raise her three children. He had the gift of gab and would talk to anyone who would listen.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife. Surviving are his daughter, Christine Albrecht-Lake; three grandsons, Jessie (Tristan) Albrecht, Dylan Albrecht-Cook and Logan Lake; four great-grandsons, Anthony Jarvis, Dakota Albrecht, Jesse James Albrecht and Kaleb Albrecht; and a special brother and sister-in-law and two nieces he loved dearly.
Friends will be received 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Graveside funeral services and military honors presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Austin Cemetery on 15 Mile Road in Convis Township, between P Drive North and Q Drive North.
