James "Jim" Barlow

James "Jim" C. Barlow Sr., 100, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, October 27th, 2018, at the Legacy at the Oaks. Jim was born on July 6th, 1918 in Ripley, Tennessee to Charles and Margaret (Halfacre) Barlow. Jim attended Battle Creek Central High School. Jim served in the US Army during WWII and went on to work for Clark and eventually retired from Kellogg Cereal after more than 30 years.

Jim married the former Pearl Dungey on January 22, 1944 and together they had three children. He was a member of the American Legion, Kellogg 25 Year Club, the Masons, and was the past President of the Kellogg Sportsman's Club.

Jim is survived by his wife Pearl; 2 sons, Jim Jr. (Lynette McCurley) of Kalamazoo and Michael (Lynn) of Battle Creek; a daughter, Carolyn (John) Misner of Schaumburg IL; grandchildren, Corey Stimhoff of Grand Rapids; Brandon Misner of Delaplane, VA, Caroline Misner Finkl of Davidson, NC, Tia Barlow of Grand Rapids and Jennifer McNees of Battle Creek; special nephew Robert (Linda) Barlow of Battle Creek; special niece Lena Barlow, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, Walter and Joe (Nezzi); a sister, Henrietta McNuckles; a nephew, John Barlow, a niece, Wilma Barlow and a daughter-in-law, Robin Smith.

Interment at Fort Custer National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, American Legion Post #54 or to J.D.R.F.
