James L. Burt, 74, of Battle Creek died at Bronson at Home Good Samaritan Hospice Residence on Fri, November 27, 2015.
Jim was born July 8, 1941 in Battle Creek to Clellen Korkin and Ruth Elnara (Keltz) Burt. He grew up in Battle Creek and has worked here as a hair stylist most of his life. Jim has owned and operated shops in Grand Rapids, Las Vegas and Battle Creek. He worked for several local shops and operated his own on Capital SW called Hair Tec. Since 1997 he has worked out of his home.
Surviving are two brothers, Gary D. (Jan) Burt of Battle Creek, Darrell R. Burt of Corbin, KY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins and their families. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Darlene Burt.
Jim enjoyed playing BINGO at the Casino. Jim will be remembered as a friendly, outgoing person, who enjoyed visiting with family and friends; and he treated everyone as if they were a long lost friend.
Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor James S. Codde, Chaplain 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
