Rev. James E. Kidney, 86, of Battle Creek went to the loving arms of his Lord on Tuesday, May 12, 2015.
He was born March 9, 1929, one of 14 children to Mary and Taylor Kidney of Chillicothe, OH.
Jim moved to Battle Creek at age 16. He was employed at Michigan Carton Company for several years, later attending Spring Arbor College, becoming an Ordained Minister.
He pastored churches in both Ohio and Michigan. He was a member of Emmett St. Missionary Church and serving as Visitation Pastor.
He enjoyed being with his family and friends and attending Brown City Camp Meetings.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Hoag) Kidney; two sons Larry (Sue) Kidney, Gary (Angie) Hoag; three daughters, Lorna (Don) Arndt; Joy (Kim) Herrick, Cindy (Bill) Herron; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Merla, his parents, and several brothers and sisters.
A service will be held on Saturday, May 16th at Emmett Street Missionary Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 15 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
