James Lewis "Jim" Rose of Portage, MI
Jim, age 69, died on Wednesday morning, March 23, 2016 at his residence and with his family at his side.
Jim, the son of Ora and Ruth (Hybles) Rose, was born in Hillsdale, MI on December 19, 1946. He served his country honorably and nobly during the Vietnam War with the United States Army. He served as a Private First Class with the Eighth Army, Company C, 1st Battalion of the 73rd Armor Division. When Jim returned home he made a career as an Auto Body Repairman and he was extremely adapt with restoring old cars. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed camping in the "Great Outdoors."
Jim was united in marriage to the "Love of his Life," Lucinda D. (nee: Waber) in Galesburg, MI on February 17, 1984. Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Cindy; his daughter, Tricia (Travis) Bartholomew of Scotts, MI; three sons, Todd Rose of Fuquayvarian, NC, James (Gretchen) Buford of Hawaii and Jonathon Rose of Portage; three precious grandchildren, Brandie, Garrett and Adam and four brothers, Robert Rose of Plainwell, Gordon Rose of Mattawan, MI, Harold Rose of AZ and Thomas (Susan) Rose of Portage. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brother, Jack & Terry Rose.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at Noon at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster Street. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta with the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full, military honors. Jim's family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
