Jane L. (Hilliar) Faurot

Jane L. Faurot, 95, of Battle Creek, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Bickford Cottage.

Jane was born December 1, 1918 in Superior, Wisconsin to Lynn and Alice (Jackman) Hilliar. She moved to Michigan as a child and lived in Detroit, Coldwater, Hillsdale and Jackson. Jane was a 1936 graduate of Jackson High School and came to Battle Creek in 1948. She was employed as an executive secretary in the production department at Eaton Manufacturing 1953-54, a secretary at The W. K. Kellogg Foundation 1954-68 and retired from the Battle Creek Gas Company in 1981, where she was employed in Customer Affairs for thirteen years.

Jane L. Hilliar was united in marriage to Rolland A. Faurot November 16, 1940 in Jackson, MI. Jane was preceded in death by "Rollie", her husband of 53 years on January 7, 1994. Surviving are her daughter, Lynnette Anne (Robert) Krueger of Allendale, NJ; a son, Dennis L. (Ellen) Faurot of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Thomas Krueger, Eileen Krueger, Michelle (Jason) Koerth, Megan (Nick) Campanile, and Holly Faurot; and, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to her husband, Jane was also preceded in death by brothers, Lyle, Harvey, and Walter; and sisters, June Childers and Grace McCourtie.

Jane attended the First United Methodist Church and was formerly active in its Sunshine Circle. She was a teacher's volunteer aide at Verona Elementary School and participated in the foster grandparents reading program. Jane always enjoyed cooking, especially chocolate chip cookies, knitting, sewing, reading and traveling. She was warm and loving, with a great sense of humor. Jane was a deeply devoted friend, always caring and generous. She was savvy and wise and feisty to the end.

A memorial visitation will be held 10 -11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Oakgrove Cemetery, Coldwater, MI.
