Jane M. Schmitt

Jane Schmitt, 86, passed away December 27, 2023 at NorthPointe Woods after a brief illness.  She was born in Burlington, WI to Ernest and Phyllis (Martin) Sherman.  In 1960 she married David Schmitt who preceded her in death as well as her parents.  She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Stephen) Spangler, many nieces and their families and many cousins. 

Jane graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in human biology and was employed as a Registered Medical Technologist at Community Hospital and Regional Medical Laboratories until retirement in 2000.  She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Leila Arboretum Society and was a Master Gardener.  She loved her family, music, theatre, movies and traveling. 

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Jane’s life will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024 at St. Philip Catholic Church.  Inurnment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Philip Catholic Church.  Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.  Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
