Jane C. Vondell

Jane C. Vondell, 89, of Climax, died May 14, 2024.  Jane was born September 13, 1934 in Hartford, CT to Wilbert and Carolyn (Bird) Thompson. She graduated from Gilbert High School in Winsted, CT and went on to the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing.  She then worked 3 years at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, where she met her future husband, Richard.  They were later married on December 19, 1959.  Jane continued her nursing career in Battle Creek at Community hospital and later for Dr. Kranz and Dr. Zheutlin. 

Jane was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where she was a chairperson of a church Bazaar.  She taught water exercise at the Battle Creek YMCA and also in Bradenton, FL. 

Jane is survived by her 4 children, Laurie Vondell, Jeffrey (Tara) Vondell, Edward (Pilar) Vondell and Robert (Caren) Vondell and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard, four sisters, mother and father.  

A graveside service to celebrate Jane’s life will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2024 at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Battle Creek YMCA.  Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
