Laura Janet Buford

Laura Janet Buford, 101, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Janet was born October 7, 1924 in Celina, Tennessee to Elba E. and Nannie Mae (Glidwell) Chilton. On January 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Reymond H. Buford. She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed making stained glass and was part of a group that worked on stained glass at Chapel Hill Methodist Church. She was a part of the official welcoming committee at Lakeview Assisted Living and made many friends there. She especially loved spending time with her family and just being around them.

Janet is survived by her son, David (Debbie) Buford; daughter-in-law, Ji Buford; grandchildren, Aaron Buford and Nathan (Maria) Buford; great-grandchildren, Payge Buford, Almaryne Buford, Ellie Buford, Phoenix Buford, Liam Buford, Parker (Veronica) Buford and great-great-grandchildren, Saleen, Elise, William and Lyra, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Buford; son, Dennis Buford; siblings, Annie Uldriks, Lois Underwood, Norman Chilton, Marcia Martin, Joyce Evelyn, Edward Chilton, Marshall Chilton and Jeff Chilton. She was also preceded in death by her special friends from Lakeview Assisted Living, Dorothy, Jean and Hattie.
