Janice H. Standley

Janice H. Standley, 88, of Climax, passed away peacefully, January 26, 2026 with her family by her side. Janice was born March 22, 1937 in Ann Arbor, MI to Carl and LaMoyne (Hall) Babcock. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and soon after married George (Joe) Morris. Together, they had five children. They were married for 28 years when Joe passed.

Janice married Jim Standley on April 15, 1988; they were married for 36 years before his passing in 2024.

Janice was employed at Pennfield Schools for over 20 years, retiring in 1999.

Janice’s first love was spending time with her family. She looked forward to her family get togethers! She loved craft shows, flower shopping, Detroit Tiger baseball, feeding and watching the birds and shopping. She wintered in Florida for several years, enjoyed cruises and traveling. She even jumped out of a perfectly good airplane in her 60’s.

Her family will tell you she fought her 15-year battle with cancer fearlessly, doing whatever it takes to keep her mobile and spending time with her family.

Janice is survived by her children, Linda (Don) Steen, Bill (Teresa) Morris, Chet (Shelly) Morris, Eric Morris and Lisa (Bob) Schreiner; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her precious cat and loving companion, Snickers.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Joe, husband Jim, her parents and sisters, Virginia Riddle and Barbara Babcock.

Funeral services to celebrate Janice’s life will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery, Pennfield Township.
