Jason Michael Hicks

August 19, 1980 — July 13, 2025

Battle Creek

Jason Michael “J” Hicks, 45 years young went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 13, 2025 at Rose Arbor Hospice of Kalamazoo. He was born in Battle Creek on August 19, 1980 to Harry Hicks and Olivia “Molly” Lacey. He is survived by his sister, Candace “Maynard” Hicks; his brother, Christopher “Curley” (Annette) Hicks; brothers, David Hicks and Rickey (Danielle) Scardine-Snyder; maternal grandmother, Clarissa Johnson; aunt, April Lacey; uncle, Donald Lacey Jr.; and several cousins & loved ones.

It went like this, Harry Hicks (July 12, 2003), Jason Hicks (July 13, 2025), Olivia “Molly” Hicks (July 17, 2023). Jason waited 2 years looking for his mom, so after Harry’s anniversary and before Olivia’s anniversary, he went home to them. No more suffering and pain.

The Hick’s family thanks the special people who cared for Jason throughout the years. His God Mom, Kay Butler; Doris Klaussen Center for 20 years; and PRS/Beachfield for 14 years. Our hearts go out to you all too, because for 12 hours a day for 14 years, Jason was your little brother.

Jason loved his Mt. Dew bottle, watching the Price is Right and all game shows; he loved the water and listening to his music. So, let’s not cry, let’s celebrate his new life! Walking, talking, and running to the arms of his mom and dad. Mom and dad, now we can rest together. He turned to God and said, “Thank You”, I’m whole again, and he looked down and said, “Thanks to everyone down there, “I’m Home”.

The family will receive friends 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Doris Klaussen Developmental Center.

The Day God Called You Home

In tears we saw you tired

As we watched you pass away

Our hearts totally broken

We wanted you to stay

You were sleeping so peacefully, free from pain

How could we wish you back with us to suffer that again

It broke our hearts to lose you, but a cure was not to be

Jason faced his pain with courage

Until the very end

He tried so hard to stay with us

But his fight, he couldn’t win

God wrapped his loving arms around

Him and whispered

“It’s Time, Come with Me”
