Jean L. Markell

Jean L. Markell, age 91, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2015. She was born in Warren, Ohio on May 11, 1924, the loving daughter of Charles M. and Letha J. (Moon) White. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Battle Creek and enjoyed playing the piano.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, George A. "Bud" Markell in 2004; her son, Thomas G. Markell in 1973, and her daughter, Leigh Ann Markell in 2014. She is survived by her brothers, Richard (Phyllis) White and Robert (Patti) White, both of Florida and four nieces & nephews.

Funeral services to celebrate Jean's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2015 in the chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Patricia J. Weatherwax of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 111 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
