Jeanette Iris (Miller) Barve

Jeanette Iris Barve, 74, a lifelong Battle Creek resident died peacefully at her residence, with her caregiver and friend at her side, on Saturday, October 26, 2019.

Jeanette was born August 25, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the daughter of Henry J.L. and Hazel K. (Bradd) Miller. She graduated from Pennfield High School and was employed as a special needs bus driver for Battle Creek Public Schools and retired after 36 years. She was also a bus driver for Calhoun Action Agency as a Federal Government employee.

Jeanette Iris Miller was united in marriage to Gerald Edward Barve on November 7, 1964 in Battle Creek. Jeanette was preceded in death by "Jerry" her husband of 53 years on June 30, 2017. Surviving are two brothers, Martin (Charlene) Miller of Battle Creek, MI, James (Sharlene) Miller of Bellevue, MI; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families and a special friend and caregiver, Karen Vanderwall. In addition to her husband, Jerry, Jeanette was also preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.

Jeanette attended and was an active member of Maple United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making and selling ceramics; and she had a hobby "business" called "Barn Ceramics" that she operated since 1976. She enjoyed riding snowmobiles and quads, going to casinos, traveling and several cruises to the Bahamas and Alaska. Jeanette will be remembered as a talented, creative, generous, caring person. She loved her little companion and shadow, Lady, her dog.

Friends will be received at Maple United Methodist Church 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019, where an 11:30 a.m. memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Linda Stoddard at Maple United Methodist Church, 342 Capital Avenue NE, Battle Creek, MI. A committal service will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019.
